These terms apply between you and Rubics Code (ABN 40 440 756 434), the Australian business that makes and sells Loggerhead. They cover getloggerhead.com, the Loggerhead app, the loggerhead-mcp bridge, and Loggerhead licences. By using the site or installing Loggerhead, you accept them.
Nothing in these terms removes a right you have under the Australian Consumer Law or another law that cannot be excluded. Where a clause limits our liability, it does so only to the extent that the law allows.
1. This website
You may use this site to learn about Loggerhead, to download it, and to buy a licence. Do not use it to send spam, to probe or attack it, or to copy its content for another site. The content is ours or used with permission. We try to keep the documentation accurate, but it is general information and not advice for your situation.
2. The app and its plans
Loggerhead is a macOS app that stores and shows logs, metrics, and traces on your own Mac. It comes in two plans: Free and Pro. You can buy Pro as a Pro licence or as a Lifetime licence.
Free
The Free plan needs no licence key and does not expire. You may use it for any purpose, on any number of Macs.
Pro
A Loggerhead Pro licence is a one-time purchase. It gives one person:
- the right to use the Pro features on the Macs that this person uses;
- one year of updates from the purchase date. After that year the app keeps working, and you keep the last version released within your year;
- the option to buy one more year of updates at the renewal price, on the same licence ID.
Lifetime
A Loggerhead Lifetime licence is a one-time purchase. It gives the same rights as a Pro licence, and it includes every update that we release, with no renewal. You can upgrade a Pro licence to Lifetime at the upgrade price. If we stop the development of Loggerhead, your app keeps working, but no more updates come.
Your licence
A licence is for a named person and is not transferable. A team needs one licence per person. Do not share, resell, or publish a licence key. We may stop a licence that is shared or that was obtained by fraud, and we will tell you if we do.
The app works offline. Once a day, it asks our licence server if the licence is still active. When a licence is stopped, the app returns to the Free plan, and your data stays on your Mac. If the app cannot reach the server, Pro stays on.
The loggerhead-mcp bridge is under the MIT licence. Where we publish other Loggerhead code under an open source licence, that licence governs that code. A Pro or Lifetime licence key governs the Pro features of the builds we ship.
Beta builds
Beta builds are for testing. They expire on a date set in the build, they may have bugs, and they may lose data. Do not rely on a beta build for anything important.
3. Purchases, tax, and refunds
Loggerhead is sold through Stripe. For these sales Stripe, through Link, is the merchant of record: it collects your payment, adds the tax that applies in your location, issues your receipt, and handles disputes. Prices are shown in US dollars, and the checkout may show your local currency. The prices of each licence, the renewal, and the upgrade are on the pricing section of this site.
If a Loggerhead licence is not what you expected, email[email protected] within 14 days of purchase and we will refund it. A refund stops the licence, and the app returns to the Free plan. A refund of a renewal or of a Lifetime upgrade gives the licence its earlier updates date again. This is in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, which give you a remedy if the software has a major fault.
4. Your data
Your telemetry data stays on your Mac. We do not receive it, and we make no claim to it. Back it up as you would any other data on your Mac. How we handle the small amount of personal information that a purchase and the daily licence check involve is in our privacy policy.
5. Warranties and liability
Loggerhead and this site are provided as they are. To the extent the law allows, we exclude every warranty that is not in these terms, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of data, revenue, or profit. Where the law does not let us exclude liability, our liability is limited, at our choice, to supplying the software again, or to paying the cost of having it supplied again.
6. Changes to these terms
When we change these terms, we update the date at the top of this page. A change does not affect a licence you already bought, unless you agree to it.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Australia. The courts of the Australian state in which Rubics Code is registered have jurisdiction over any dispute, and both of us submit to them.
