Loggerhead is made and sold by Rubics Code (ABN 40 440 756 434), an Australian business. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we store it, and who we share it with. It covers getloggerhead.com, the Loggerhead app, the loggerhead-mcp bridge, licence purchases, and email with us about Loggerhead. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
1. What we collect and why
The Loggerhead app
Loggerhead runs on your Mac and keeps your logs, metrics, and traces on your Mac. We do not receive that data. The app does not send usage analytics to us. These actions reach a server:
- A purchase. When you buy a Loggerhead licence, Stripe collects your payment details. We receive your name, email address, country, and the order details. We never see your card number. We keep your name, email address, licence ID, order date, and updates date in our licence register, so we can send your key again and handle renewals and refunds.
- Licence status. Once a day, the app sends its licence ID to our licence server to find out if the licence is still active, for example after a refund. The request carries the licence ID and the app version, and no identifier for your Mac. The licence works offline.
- Key recovery. If you ask for your key again on this site, we email every active key on that address to the same address. The answer on the page is the same whether or not the address has a licence.
- A problem report. If you send a problem report from the app, it sends your description, the reply address if you give one, and a diagnostic report. The diagnostic report holds the app version, the plan, the macOS version, the ports, the database size, and the row counts. It holds no telemetry content. You can read the full report before it leaves your Mac.
- AI analysis with a cloud model. If you choose a cloud model for AI analysis, the app sends a sample of your telemetry directly to that provider with your own key. Before it sends the sample, the app replaces values such as email addresses and IP addresses with placeholders. We do not receive that data. With Apple Intelligence, the analysis stays on your Mac.
- Update checks. When the app checks for updates, it requests the update feed from our download server. That request carries no personal data beyond what any web request carries.
The MCP bridge
The loggerhead-mcp bridge and the MCP server in the app read telemetry from the app on the same Mac and give it to the AI coding tool that you connect. They open no network connection except to127.0.0.1, and they store nothing of their own.
The customer list
When you buy a Loggerhead licence, we add your email address to a customer list. Resend stores the list. Every email that we send to the list has an unsubscribe link, and one click removes your address from the list.
When you email [email protected], we keep the email and our reply for as long as we need them to answer you, and then as part of our business records.
Server logs
Our hosting provider records each request to this site and to the download server, including the IP address, the requested page, and the user agent, for security and to keep the service running. We use the totals of those records to count downloads. The provider keeps the logs for a short period.
Cookies and analytics
This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. The key recovery page loads Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a person, not an automated program, sent the form.
2. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the providers that run the service, and only as much as each needs:
| Provider | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare | Hosts this site, the downloads, and the update feed. Stores the licence register and the problem reports. Checks the key recovery form with Turnstile. | United States, with servers worldwide |
| Resend | Sends the licence, key recovery, renewal, and refund emails. Stores the customer list. | United States |
| Stripe and Link | Process purchases as the merchant of record, issue receipts, and handle refunds. | United States, with a local entity for Australia |
| MXroute | Hosts the [email protected] mailbox. | Outside Australia |
| GitHub | Hosts the source code and the releases of the loggerhead-mcp bridge. | United States |
These providers are outside Australia. We choose providers with their own privacy commitments, and we send them only what the task needs. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We disclose personal information to other parties only when the law requires it.
3. How long we keep it
- Purchase records: seven years, as Australian tax law requires.
- Licence records: for the life of the licence.
- Problem reports: for as long as we need them to fix the problem.
- Customer list addresses: until you unsubscribe.
- Email: for as long as we need it to answer you, then as part of our business records.
- Server logs: a short period set by our hosting provider.
4. Security
Every connection to this site and to the licence server uses HTTPS. Access to our email, our hosting, and our payment accounts is protected with two-factor authentication. Secrets and keys are kept in a secrets manager, not in code. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as the Privacy Act requires.
5. Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email[email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to theOffice of the Australian Information Commissioner.
6. Changes
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of this page. A change that affects how we use information you already gave us will be announced by email where we have your address.
